Sydney Fleming Named Assistant Softball Coach

STORRS, Conn. – Sydney Fleming has joined the UConn softball staff as an assistant coach, announced by head coach Laura Valentino on Friday.
Fleming joins the Huskies program after serving as an operation intern for Major League Baseball at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex.
"We're thrilled to welcome Sydney Fleming to our UConn Softball staff," said Valentino. "Her passion for the game and commitment to developing those around her are truly impressive. Sydney brings a relentless work ethic and a 'go-getter' mentality that will undoubtedly make an immediate and lasting impact on our program."
A standout student-athlete at Williams College, Fleming was a two-time team co-captain for the softball program, helping lead the Ephs to back-to-back NESCAC Championships in 2023 and 2024. She was a key contributor to their NCAA Regional Championship in 2024, being named to the Regional All-Tournament Team. In her senior season, she was named the NESCAC Player of the Year and was selected as an All-American, breaking the single season program record in home runs with 21, and RBI with 52. She holds the career home runs record at Williams (49) and was a multi-time All-Region, and All-League selection.
"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of the incredible UConn coaching staff," said Fleming. "I'm excited to work with these impressive athletes in a culture that strives for excellence."
Off the field, Fleming served as the co-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years. She also worked in the Williams Athletic Department as a student assistant for four years. In recognition of her leadership and service, Fleming was the recipient of the Kate Hogan Athletics Award, honoring her commitment and contributions to the athletic department. Fleming majored in Psychology and History, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College in 2025.
