Huskies Complete Series Sweep Over DePaul

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team defeated the DePaul Blue Demons, 10-1 in a five-inning run rule to secure a series sweep. The Huskies move to 6-3 in BIG EAST play and 13-22 overall this season.
Freshman Caprice Bohmer made her 14th start of the season in the series finale for the Huskies. Bohmer went the distance in the circle, tossing all 5.0 innings, giving up a run on three hits with five strikeouts.
Sophomore Cat Petteys gave the Huskies an early lead in the bottom of the 1st inning with her team-leading 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot to center field, putting UConn in front, 2-0.
The Huskies offense erupted for six runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, all-coming with two outs, as 12 Husky hitters came to the plate. Petteys sparked the two-out rally with a single to left field, scoring Caylee De Meo. The next batter, Haley Coupal delivered an RBI double to left center field, scoring Savannah Ring. Kaitlyn Breslin kept the inning going with a double to right center field, scoring Petteys and Coupal. Later in the inning, De Meo capped off the rally with a two-run single to center field, scoring Breslin and Calciano, extending the UConn lead to 8-0.
DePaul got a run back in the top of the 3rd inning to make it 8-1 in favor of the Huskies.
Ring secured the series sweep in the bottom of the 5th inning with a two-run home run to left field, her first of the season, ending the game in a run rule victory for the Huskies, 10-1.

- Savannah Ring has recorded back-to-back three-hit games, extending her hit streak to eight straight games. She has ten multi-hit games this season.
- Cat Petteys led the Huskies with three RBI, her seventh multi-RBI game this season. She picked up her team-leading 11th multi-hit game this year and has reached base safely in six consecutive games.
- Kaitlyn Breslin recorded her eighth multi-hit and 11th multi-RBI game this season. She has an RBI in five of her last six games.
