UCONN INVITATIONAL FINAL RESULTS
HAMPDEN, MA – The UConn golf team held off a final round charge from Boston College to lay claim to the 2025 UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies take home the team trophy at their annual tournament for the sixth time in the 16-year history of the tournament.
UConn turned in a three-round score of 864 to finish at even par for the tournament and best Boston College by three strokes to claim the trophy. The Huskies shot a 288 on Sunday, 283 on Monday and finished with a 293 on Tuesday. The Eagles posted a 867 to finish as the runner-up with Rhode Island and St. John's tying for third at 872.
The Huskies were led by junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) who turned in his best-ever finish for UConn, tying for the tournament's top-spot with BC's Markus Lam. Sawka finished four-under over the three days, with a score of 212 (71-67-74) and his second round 67 was tied for the low round of the tournament. For Sawka it was his second-top five finish of the season.
Sawka would face Lam in a sudden-death playoff to claim individual champion honors. Both players shot 4-under for the tournament. Both bogeyed the par 4 first hole of the playoff. But on the second hole – the par 3, 15th – Lam stuffed his tee shot to within five feet and his birdie topped Sawka's par to take the title.
Senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) took home a top-10 finish, tying for seventh place with a score of 215. Goode was under par in the first two rounds, shooting matching 71's and finished the tournament on Tuesday with a 73. He finishes in the top-10 for the second time in three tournaments this season.
Sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Tawain) climbed up the leaderboard and finished tied for 11th to record his best finish of his Husky career. Huang finished at 217, shooting a 74 on day one but matching 71's over the final two rounds.
Rounding out UConn's top-five was sophomore Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) in 23rd with a 221 (72-74-75) and freshman Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ) in 41st at 227 (77-75-75).
The Huskies got a pair of top-20 finishes from senior Colin Spencer (Mashpee, MA) and freshman Matthew Oliveira (Dartmouth, MA) who both played as individuals in the field. Spencer finished in a tie for 13th overall with a three-round showing of 217. He shot 71 on day one, a 67 on day two, which tied for the low round of the tournament, and a 79 on Tuesday. Oliveira was 19th on the leaderboard, shooting 219 (71-73-76).
UConn will return to action on October 13-14 when they take part in the Moraine Invitational hosted by Miami (OH) at the Moraine Country Club in Dayton, OH.
