HARTFORD, Conn. — UConn women's cross country had an impressive start to their 2025 season, with all six runners finishing in the top 10 at the University of Hartford Invitational at Keney Park.
Ally McCarthy (Sandy Hook, Conn.) set a new course record in the 3K race, finishing first with a personal-best time of 10:44.0 to begin her season. Claire Paci (Greencastle, Pa.), Loghan Hughes (Enosburg, Vt.), and Megan Minicucci (Bolton, Conn.) placed second, third, and fourth, respectively. Paci and Hughes achieved new personal bests in the 3K. Calista Mayer (Tolland, Conn.) finished sixth with a 3K personal-best of 10:59.1. Samantha Moore (Portland, Me.) took seventh in her collegiate debut, posting a time of 11:06.7.
"Despite the really tough conditions of heat and humidity, our women executed the race plan. They got out quickly and controlled the race from the start," said Head Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan. "Excited for Ally [McCarthy] setting a course record to start her senior campaign. All six runners finishing in the top 10 is a great way to start the season."
The Huskies will return to action in two weeks at the Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain on Saturday, September 20.
