Aaliyah Edwards to Join Huskies of Honor on Jan. 28

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's basketball alumna Aaliyah Edwards will officially join the Huskies of Honor on Wednesday, Jan. 28 ahead of the Huskies' game vs. Xavier in Gampel Pavilion at 8 p.m.
Edwards will be inducted into Huskies of Honor in a pregame ceremony approximately 30 minutes before tipoff. The ceremony will be streamed on the UConn women's basketball X and Facebook pages, the UConn Huskies YouTube page and UConn+.
Edwards was named a WBCA All-American as a senior in 2023-24, making her eligible for Huskies of Honor. Her number will be added to the rafters of Gampel.
In four seasons in Storrs, Edwards helped lead UConn to three Final Four appearances, a National Championship game appearances and eight BIG EAST championships.
Edwards compiled 1,861 points and 1,020 rebounds in her UConn career. She ranks 16th in the UConn record books in career points, eighth in career rebounds and sixth in career double-doubles (35). She was just the sixth Husky all-time to reach 1,800 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Edwards was selected as a 2024 WBCA All-American, Wooden Award All-American, USBWA Second Team All-American and unanimously All-BIG EAST. She was the 2023 BIG EAST Most Improved Player and 2021 BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year.
Edwards graduated from UConn in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in communication.
Edwards was selected with the No. 6 overall pick by the Washington Mystics in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She is currently a member of the Connecticut Sun organization. Edwards also competes in Unrivaled and is currently a member of the Lunar Owls.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Edwards is a two-time Olympian and has competed for Canada Basketball since 2017.
Edwards' Huskies of Honor ceremony was originally scheduled for Jan. 19 but was rescheduled due to the Unrivaled schedule.
