No. 1 UConn to Host Xavier Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (21-0, 11-0 BIG EAST) hosts Xavier (10-10, 3-8) Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. The game will air on peacock and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
Approximately 30 minutes before tipoff, UConn will induct Aaliyah Edwards into the Huskies of Honor. The ceremony will be streamed on the UConn women's basketball X and Facebook pages, the UConn Huskies YouTube page and UConn+.

Sophomore Sarah Strong was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for the sixth time this season and Blanca Quiñonez was tabbed Freshman of the Week for the seventh time this season on Monday.
Strong had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead UConn past Seton Hall, 92-52, last Saturday. Quiñonez had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench. UConn had 45 bench points and 37 points off turnovers vs. the Pirates.
The Huskies lead the nation with 24.1 assists per game. UConn has dished out 20+ assists in its last 20 games. Junior KK Arnold ranks third nationally with a 4.45 assist-turnover ratio.
On Tuesday, Strong and Arnold were named to the 25-player watch list for the 2026 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award.
UConn is 10-0 all-time vs. Xavier. The teams last faced off in Cincinnati on Nov. 30, a 104-39 win for UConn. Sophomore Allie Ziebell led the Huskies with a career-high 16 points off the bench.
Xavier lost to Georgetown, 65-52, last Saturday. This season, Mariyah Noel leads the Musketeers with 16.1 points per game. Head coach Billi Chambers is in her third season at Xavier.
