Huskies Swept by No. 9 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UConn softball team dropped the series finale to No. 9 Arkansas, 9-4 on Sunday afternoon at Bogle Park.
Freshman Caprice Bohmer made her 11th start of the season in the circle for the Huskies. Bohmer went 3.2 innings giving up two earned runs on just a pair of hits.
Arkansas opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning with a run to make it 1-0.
UConn responded in the top of the 2nd inning, scoring two runs to give the Huskies the lead. Freshman Emma Willers scored UConn's first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Kaitlyn Breslin from third base. The next batter, Heidi Barber dropped a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt squeeze to score Caylee De Meo from third base, giving the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
Arkansas responded with two runs in the bottom half of the 2nd inning, putting the Razorbacks back in front, 3-2.
Graduate Jessica Walter came on in relief from Bohmer during the bottom of the 4th inning, making her 21st appearance of the season. Walter closed out the game in the circle for the Huskies, going 2.1 innings, giving up six runs on four hits with a strikeout.
Arkansas extended its lead in the bottom of the 5th inning with a run to make it 4-2.
UConn's offense continued to battle, as the Huskies scored two runs in the top of the 6th inning to knot the game at 4-4. Haley Coupal and Cat Petteys got the inning started by reaching base, setting the table for the middle of the lineup. Coupal came around to score on a ball put in play by Breslin, making it 4-3. Petteys later scored on a passed ball to tie the score.
Arkansas regained the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning with five runs, four coming from a grand slam, giving the Razorbacks a 9-4 lead.

- Kaitlyn Breslin recorded her sixth multi-hit game this season.
- Emma Willers has three RBI in her last four games.
- Eight of the Razorbacks nine runs came with two outs.
