Huskies to Host Northeast Challenge This Weekend

STORRS- UConn track and field returns home this weekend, hosting the Northeast Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The Huskies will recognize the class of 2026 prior to the start of the meet on Saturday morning.
UConn will look to keep the momentum rolling from last week's strong showing at the Duke Invitational. The Huskies set five new program all-time top 10 marks, led by a program record in the 1500m by Brooke Strauss. Strauss finished fourth in the meet with a blazing fast time of 4:14.36.
Marshall Potter and Derek Shimer joined Strauss in the standout freshman performances. Potter Potter finished fifth in the hammer throw, with a personal best throw of 61.93m, moving up to seventh-best in program history. Shimer won the high jump competition at 2.14m, tying the seventh-best performance in program history.
Medwin Odamtten ran a time of 10.37 in the 100m, tied for the third-fastest mark in program history. UConn saw key performances in the pole vault, with Abigail Bernas and Piper Lin each setting personal-bests to move into the program top-10.
The multi-events begin on Friday at 12:00pm.
