Sarah Trainor Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

STORRS, CT - UConn grad student Sarah Trainor is the recipient of the BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor after a standout performance at last week's Penn Relays.

Trainor finished second in the Penn Relays steeplechase with a sub-10-minute time (9:56.25), which is good for first in the BIG EAST and in the Northeast region. It was a new personal best for Trainor and also is the second fastest time in the event in school history. She was also the lead-off leg of the Penn Relays championship DMR race, which set a school record of 11:08.87 to win the event. The foursome of Trainor along with Brooke Strauss, Anna Connors, and Sascha Letica set a new Penn Relay Event Record as well, besting a 2023 mark of 11:19.09 set by South Carolina.
