Huskies Dominate at Dog Fight Challenge

STORRS- UConn track and field secured the team victory in the Dog Fight Meet at the George J. Sherman Family Complex in Storrs on Saturday. The Huskies recorded a staggering 260.5 points, ahead of second-place Northeastern (187.5 points).
Men's Field:
- Thomas Bannon won the javelin with a throw of 66.96m. Max Ringwall (57.75m), Connor Hayford (57.42m), and Matt Bannon took sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
- Marshall Potter won the hammer throw, with a performance of 60.39m.
- Potter finished fourth in the discus at 50.28m. Nicholas Connolly took seventh at 47.73m.
- Enaji Muhammad won the high jump at 2.05m. Derek Shimer secured fourth at 1.95m.
- Ringwall placed ninth in the long jump at 6.67m.
- Wyatt Martin finished fourth in the pole vault at 4.45m. Dar Jankovic placed eighth at 4.30m and Kyle Kurtz took ninth at 4.30m.
Women's Field:
- Gabriela DeFelice finished sixth in the hammer throw at 51.64m.
- DeFelice also notched a sixth-place finish in the discus at 44.38m.
- Caitlin Dumouchel finished second in the javelin at 39.74m. Alyssa Elliott placed seventh at 38.42m.
- Maresa Hense won the long jump at 5.92m. Audrey Kozak finished third at 5.69m and Brooklyn Taylor claimed fifth at 5.57m.
- Rachel Mason finished second in the pole vault at 3.85m. Abigail Bernas finished ninth at 3.55m.
- Kaylee Meyer won the high jump competition at 1.65m.
- Matilda Brockley won the triple jump at 12.39m, the seventh-best mark in program history.
- Ella Karp took eighth in the shot put at 13.13m.
Men's Track:
- Josh Mooney finished third in the 110m hurdles at 14.07. Mohamed Wahdan took sixth at 14.25. William Watson and Jordon Quinn each claimed points for the Huskies, finishing seventh and ninth with respective times of 14.39 and 14.59.
- Nicholas Wright finished sixth in the 100m at 10.46. Noble Gongon claimed eighth at 10.53.
- Wright finished sixth in the 200m at 21.84.
- Del Lindsay finished third in the 400m, crossing the line in 47.45. Mekhi Stone claimed fourth at 47.57.
- Mason Brosious took fourth in the 1500m at 3:49.31. Christian Menounos and Jack Forer finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 3:51.03 and 3:53.49.
- The 4x100m team of Wright, Noble Gongon, Damon Simpson and Medwin Odammten finished second with a time of 40.30, the fourth fastest mark in program history.
- Wyatt Gravier finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.20.
- John Canale placed fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:53.72.
Women's Track:
- Brooklyn Taylor won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.41, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Maresa Hense finished fourth, crossing the line in 13.93.
- Samantha Moore finished ninth in the 1500m with a time of 4:38.54.
- The 4x100m team of Mia Dansby, Sarah Claflin, Audrey Kozak, and Brooklyn Taylor finished third with a time of 46.00.
- Anna Connors finished third in the 200m at 24.58.
- Jessica Starr, Kiley Shatzel and Maia Rich all claimed points for the Huskies in the 400m hurdles. Starr finished fourth at 1:01.09, Shatzel took fifth at  1:01.58 (ninth-best mark in progam history) and Rich took eighth at 1:04.87.
- Caroline Rice secured seventh in the 800m at 2:16.86.
- In her UConn debut, Caitilin Thomas won the 5000m competition with a performance of 17:19.74.
- The 4x400m team of Connors, Shatzel, Hense and Starr won the relay with a time of 3:44.97.
Up Next: The Huskies will compete at the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina next weekend.
