Sawyer Franz is in his first season as an assistant coach at UConn in 2016-17.
Franz is a graduate from the University of Connecticut with dual degrees in Allied Health and Environmental Science. An athlete in college, he was the UCONN Male-Scholar Athlete of the year for the American Athletic Conference in 2014/2015, an 8 time NCAA "B" standard holder, 5 time all-conference award winner from 2012-2015, American Conference Champion, and multiple school record holder.
His past work with TrackTown USA was in workforce management for the Nike House of Track, the 2016 USATF Indoor Championships, the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships, the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships, and the 2016 US Olympic Trials in Oregon. He also did arrivals and departures for the professional track circuit meet with the TrackTown Summer Series.
Right now he is a master’s student at the University of Connecticut in Sports Management.
