FILIPEK ON ROWING AT UCONN: 'After four years of rowing at UConn I have found a new love and appreciation for the sport I have dedicated nine years of my life to. The program at UConn allowed me to not only have a 'family' here, but also promoted self-discipline and determination. I have been part of the ultimate team sport, and know that the knowledge and skills I have regarding teamwork will definitely translate to my Nursing career. I have found some of my best friends within the Rowing family, and I know that these four years of rowing here have allowed me to grow as an athlete, as well as an individual. The Coaching staff has fostered a strong positive environment and always promoted the concept of a Student-Athlete, strongly emphasizingsuccess on and off the water. The hard work that I put into this program over the past four years has fostered the mindset that I can do anything I put my mind to. I have learned so much through rowing, especially at UConn, and believe that it has allowed me to find who I truly am. I am so proud of what I, and my fellow seniors, have accomplished in rowing, as well as academics, at UConn. I know that I will cherish these memories and friendships for many years to come.
