2019Â Season: Pitched in 12 games during senior campaign, all out of the bullpen. Went 1-1 with nine strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work. Fired 2.1 scoreless innings at College of Charleston (2/23). Retired all three batters he faced vs. Hartford (3/26). Back-to-back scoreless innings against Northeastern (4/10) and Memphis (4/13).
2018 Summer: Appeared in 10 games and made eight starts for the Port Angeles Lefties in the West Coast League… Logged 40.2 innings and one save while recording 28 strikeouts… Earned the win at Victoria (June 15) with 5.0 shutout innings… Tossed 3.0 shutout frames at Yakima Valley (July 18)… Ended the season with a quality start vs. Portland (Aug 5) by firing a season-high 6.0 innings and allowing three runs.
2018 Season: Appeared in five games and registered 6.2 innings with a 8.10 ERA and pick up four strikeouts…First appearance back from Tommy John came at Wichita State (April 15) with an inning of work…Twirled a scoreless inning vs. Tulane (April 28)…Rattled off two scoreless innings and posted a career-high two punch outs vs. Sacred Heart (May 8).
2017: Had Tommy John Surgery in November of 2016…Sat out 2017 season.
Prior to UConn: Spent two years at UConn Avery Point…Reached the Division II College World Series in 2015…Hit .291 with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs and 24 RBIs in 37 games…On the mound, Santos pitched 4.2 innings in four appearances…Recorded a 1.80 ERA and struck out four batters…In 2015 enjoyed a good freshman year, playing primarily at 3rd base and DH,  where he batted .294 with 27 RBIs and three HR’s including a 3-run walk off home run to beat Monroe College…Made the Dean’s list in 2015.
High School: Attended Trumbull High School and lettered two years under head coach Phil Pacelli as a pitcher and shortstop…During his senior year, Avery earned First Team All-FCIAC honors leading the Golden Eagles to the FCIAC Championship game…Was a captain and hit .474 BA, 7 HR’s, 9 2B’s and 19 RBI’s, along with posting a 6-1 pitching record a 1.80 ERA and two shutouts…Was selected to play in the Connecticut vs. Massachusetts All-Star Game.
