2018 Season: Second Round Pick (65^th Overall) of the Washington Nationals in the 2018 MLB Draft…Set the UConn all-time record with 270 strikeouts…Tied 19^th with 15 career wins on the mound…Junior season was limited due to injury…Went 5-4 with a 2.91 ERA, recorded 67 strikeouts in 52.2 innings…Made seven starts and totaled 11 appearances…Collected first win of the season at UNF (March 2) with a seven inning performance that featured 10 punch outs…Recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts in a victory at USF (March 23) in five innings of work…Came out of the bullpen and struck out seven in 3.2 innings against Wichita State (May 23) in the American Championships…Earned a win out of the bullpen vs. LIU Brooklyn in the NCAA Conway Regional (June 2) behind 5.2 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six.

2017 Summer: The left-hander had the opportunity to pitch with USA Collegiate National Team for the second-straight summer. Becoming the first Husky to appear with Team USA for multiple summers. He appeared in five games, logged 12 innings, allowed three hits, one earned run and led the team with 20 strikeouts. Prior to joining up with the national team, he made one start for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League, throwing five innings of work vs. Cotuit (6/15).

2017 Season: First Team All-Conference…Second Team All-ECAC…Third Team All-Northeast…Was the Friday night starter for the Huskies, made 12 starts and accumulated a 4-3 record, 3.33 ERA in 75.2 innings…Became the first Husky in program history to eclipse the 100-strikeout plateau for a second season (102)…Five starts finished with double-digit strikeouts…On Opening Day against UMass-Lowell (2/17) struck out the first five batters of the game en route to a 7.1 shutout innings with two hits allowed and 13 strikeouts total…Won American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after a victory at No. 16 ECU, threw 7.0 innings, allowed zero earned runs and fanned 13…Dominated Cincinnati (4/28) to earn American Athletic Conference Honor Roll accolades, throwing eight shutout innings, giving up just four hits and notching 12 punch outs…Set a career-high with 14 strikeouts against No.23 USF and garnered American Athletic Conference Honor Roll recognition…Fired first career complete game with a four-hit shutout at Dunkin’ Donuts Park vs. ECU and earned American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors with his stellar outing.

2016 Summer: Selected to the 2016 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, a roster consisting of the best underclassmen in the country. The team played 23 games from June 28-July 27 in California, Taiwan, Japan and Cuba. Cate pitched at Angel Stadium in Anaheim against Conejo Oaks on July 1...Threw four-hitless innings out of the bullpen, punching out five batters...pitched an inning against Chinese-Taipei on July 9 in a game that was eventually rained out...Last appearance came in Cuba on July 23, logged one inning.

2016 Season: Earned recognition as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and was tabbed as the American Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Year…Made 13 starts, finishing the season with a 5-1 record and a 2.73 ERA in 82.1 IP…Became just the sixth Husky pitcher to record at least 100 strikeouts in a single-season (101) and held the best batting average against (.186) in the conference…Ranked among the top-50 nationally in H/9 (6.01), strikeouts (101), K/9 (11.04) and WHIP (1.00)…Picked up a pair of wins during the postseason, including an NCAA Regional victory over second-seeded Georgia Tech on June 3.High School: Lettered four years at Cheney Tech High School under head coaches Gary Marineau and Aaron Silvia... Served as team captain during his senior season... Named to the All-Conference First Team as a senior... Threw three no-hitters during his high school career...
