2017 Summer:ย The left-hander had the opportunity to pitch with USA Collegiate National Team for the second-straight summer. Becoming the first Husky to appear with Team USA for multiple summers. He appeared in five games, logged 12 innings, allowed three hits, one earned run and led the team with 20 strikeouts.ย Prior to joining up with the national team, he made one start for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League, throwing five innings of work vs. Cotuit (6/15).

2016 Summer: Selected to the 2016 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, a roster consisting of the best underclassmen in the country. The team played 23 games from June 28-July 27 in California, Taiwan, Japan and Cuba. Cate pitched at Angel Stadium in Anaheim against Conejo Oaks on July 1...Threw four-hitless innings out of the bullpen, punching out five batters...pitched an inning against Chinese-Taipei on July 9 in a game that was eventually rained out...Last appearance came in Cuba on July 23, logged one inning.ย2016 Season: Earned recognition as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and was tabbed as the American Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the YearโฆMade 13 starts, finishing the season with a 5-1 record and a 2.73 ERA in 82.1 IPโฆBecame just the sixth Husky pitcher to record at least 100 strikeouts in a single-season (101) and held the best batting average against (.186) in the conferenceโฆRanked among the top-50 nationally in H/9 (6.01), strikeouts (101), K/9 (11.04) and WHIP (1.00)โฆPicked up a pair of wins during the postseason, including an NCAA Regional victory over second-seeded Georgia Tech on June 3.High School: Lettered four years at Cheney Tech High School under head coaches Gary Marineau and Aaron Silvia...
