Corey Edsall enters his fourth season as the tight ends coach at UConn in 2020.
In 2019 Jay Rose ranked third on the team and fourth in the American Athletic Conference among tight ends with 27 catches. He was also second on the team in touchdown receptions and fifth in touchdown receptions among tight ends in the AAC with two. The tight ends combined for 40 catches, 416 yards and two touchdowns. The tight ends also played a part in helping to produce a 1,000 yard rusher for the second straight season in 2019.
In 2018 Tyler Davis, who is currently a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, tied for second in UConn single-season history with six touchdown catches for a tight end. Davis also ranked tenth in the AAC among all players with touchdown receptions and first among tight ends. The six touchdown catches for Davis ranked first on the team among all receivers. Davis was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 6th round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Aaron McLean ranked second on the team with 32 receptions and also had two touchdowns.  The 32 receptions for McLean were the most for a Husky tight end since Ryan Griffin had 33 in 2011. The tight ends combined for 55 catches, 650 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2018. Edsall’s tight ends were also instrumental in producing a pair of 1,000-yard rushers for the first time since 2009.
In 2017 at UConn, Edsall was part of an offense that went from 122nd to 50th in the nation in total offense and from 94th to 34th in passing offense. Tight end Alec Bloom was selected as a member of the 2017 Mackey Award Preseason Watch List and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. The tight ends combined for 22 catches, 285 yards and two touchdowns in 2017. Â Â
Edsall spent two seasons on the Colorado football staff, 2016 was his first as a graduate assistant working with the defense that finished the regular season 17th in the nation in total defense (328.3 ypg). He joined the program in 2015 and worked as a football intern. In 2016, he was part of the biggest turn around season in Pac-12 history. The Buffaloes went 10-4 and won the Pac-12 South Championship and appeared in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship game against the Washington Huskies. The Buffaloes also appeared in the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl.
Edsall, 28, has spent two summers as a scouting intern in a pair of National Football League training camps, the New England Patriots in 2013 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in family science from the University of Maryland in 2015.Â
In 2011 he started out as a freshman at Syracuse University, where he played quarterback for coach Doug Marrone, but then transferred to Maryland. At Maryland, he worked three years (2012-14) as a student assistant on the offensive side of the ball, and staffed a pair of bowl games with the Terrapins (2013 Military, 2014 Foster Farms).Â
Edsall graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn., where he lettered four times in football, twice in baseball and once in lacrosse. At Syracuse, he made the Big East All-Academic team for the 2011 season.
