Ian Fried joined the football staff at the University of Connecticut in January of 2026 after serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Recruiting and Pro Liaison at the University at Buffalo.
At Buffalo, Fried oversaw all aspects of recruiting operations and strategy, playing a key role in roster management, personnel evaluation, and NFL liaison responsibilities. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Recruiting and Pro Liaison prior to the 2025 season after serving as the program’s director of recruiting since 2023.
Before his tenure at Buffalo, Fried served as director of recruiting at Western Michigan University. Prior to Western Michigan, he worked on the football staff at Colgate University in quality control and video operations.
Fried began his career in player personnel, recruiting operations, and player development in 2019 with stops at the United States Military Academy, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Southern California.
A native of Stamford, Connecticut, Fried was introduced to the profession as a student manager for equipment and football operations at his alma mater, Temple University, in 2017. He graduated from Temple in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in sport and recreation management.
