Before UConn: Black comes to UConn following a one year stint with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL… Black appeared in 60 total games for the Tomahawks scoring 41 goals with 38 assists for 79 total points… In addition, Black also played in five postseason games scoring two goals with three assists… Black was named to the NAHL All-East Division Team, and had the NAHL Most Goals.
