While at UConn: Has appeared in 62 games for UConn, starting two, and averaging 5.0 points and 1.7 rebounds... Improved dramatically from his freshman to his sophomore season, almost tripling his scoring average, almost doubling his rebound average, and upping his fg percentage from .301 to .394... Became a dependable reserve, averaging 22 minutes a game... Strong, athletic guard who could also see time as a small forward... Can add depth at a number of positions... Dan Hurley’s first recruit at UConn.
As a Sophomore in 2019-20: Appeared in 31 games, with one start, averaging 7.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and considerably upping his fg percentage and 3-point percentage from his freshman year... Had 12 double-figure scoring games, all while coming off the bench... Scored a career-high 20 points in Charleston Classic win over Buffalo... Came off the bench to score 16 points and pull down 5 rebounds in overtime win over Cincinnati... Honored on UConn’s 3.0 GPA Night and named to AAC All-Academic Team.
As a Freshman in 2018-19: Appeared in 31 games, making one start against Cincinnati (2/24/19), and averaging 2.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and handing out 22 assists... Had season-highs of 11 points and 6 rebounds in non-conference game against Lafayette (12/5/18)... Best conference performance was 9-point, 3-rebound effort at Wichita State (2/28/19)... Did not miss a free throw (7-of-7) in conference play, going 3-of-3 during the regular season and 4-of-4 in AAC Championship quarterfinal game against Houston... Finished third on the team in free throw percentage (.792).
Before College: Was originally recruited to play for Coach Dan Hurley at Rhode Island, but switched his commitment to UConn after Hurley became the Huskies’ head coach... Came to UConn after four years at Calvert Hall College High School (Baltimore, Md.), playing under Coach John Bauersfeld... Averaged 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists for Calvert in 2017-18... Scored over 1,500 points in his high school career... Helped team win the Baltimore Catholic League championship in 2015... Ranked as a Top 150 player by Rivals.com... Played AAU ball for Team Melo in Nike Elite Youth Basketball League.
Personal Information: Brendan D’Andrae Adams... Born April 3, 2000... Son of Yolanda and Darryl Adams... Has one older brother, Jaylen, and three younger sisters, Anyah, Lyris and Zoe... Older brother Jaylen was an Honorable Mention All-American and the Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Year as a senior at St. Bonaventure in 2017-18 and is the top-scoring guard in that program’s history. Played with Atlanta Hawks in 2018-19, was the G League runner-up MVP in 2019-20 and signed to finish season with Trail Blazers.
