Mathew Johnson is in his fourth season with the UConn basketball program, moving into the role of Video and Scouting Coordinator after previously serving as a graduate assistant and program assistant. Johnson is in charge of film production for the team, including breakdown of opponents and evaluation of UConn, as well as coordination of all aspects of recruiting. He works closely with the coaching staff to assist in planning day-to-day practice sessions and game strategy.
Johnson, a native of Columbus, N.J., came to UConn after two years as an accountant for Tech Data Corporation in Tampa, Fla. He graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in accounting in May, 2017, after a solid four-year basketball career with the Division II Spartans.
Before the University of Tampa, Johnson graduated from The Lawrenceville School, where he was a three-year varsity captain and earned All-Patriot League First Team honors. Previously, he was at St. Anthony in Jersey City, under Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley.
Johnson and wife Cyanna are the parents of a son, Micah.
