- Assistant Defensive Backs Coach
Daryl Ely joins the Huskies and will serve as the assistant defensive backs coach.
Prior to his arrival in Storrs, Ely spent 15 years on the Mount Union football staff, and was the defensive coordinator for the last four seasons.
During his time at Mount Union, Ely has coached multiple All-Americans and OAC award winners. As defensive coordinator, Ely’s defenses have been top 10 nationally ever year in total defense and twice in scoring defense. In 2023, the Purple Raiders ranked second in the country in scoring defense, only allowing 8.3 points per game.
In his playing career, Ely was a two-time All-OAC selection and All-American defensive back. Ely won the Tressel Award as senior team captain on the 2008 Mount Union Team that won the OAC title and National Championship.
Ely was inducted into the Winter Springs High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
