Dr. Jessica Chrabaszcz was promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director, Competitive Excellence in October 2022. Prior to that, she held the role of Senior Associate Athletic Director, Competitive Excellence since arriving at UConn in August 2021. Chrabaszcz is a member of the UConn Athletics Executive Team and has direct oversight of Title IX and Gender Equity, including overseeing a comprehensive equity review of UConn Athletics. Chrabaszcz oversees numerous internal areas, including facilities and operations, event management, capital projects, and equipment services.
She has also overseen more than $250 million in capital projects during her time at UConn. These projects include the Betts Nutritional Center for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, UConn Volleyball Center Renovation, UConn Tennis Center, Practice Football Field Renovation, Bailey Student-Athlete Success Center, Gampel Pavilion enhancements, Rowing Boathouse, and the Golf Practice Facility. Additionally, she serves as the sport administrator for men’s golf, men’s soccer, softball and rowing programs.
Before being promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director, Competitive Excellence, Chrabaszcz served as Senior Associate Athletic Director, where she oversaw several key operational areas within the department, including the Athletics Business Office. She also served as the sport administrator for women’s swimming and field hockey. In addition, Chrabaszcz served on several high-profile search committees, including the successful hires of Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chris Gbandi, Head Track & Field Coach Beth Sullivan, and Head Women’s Tennis Coach Laura Glitz. She also was a board member for the Collegiate Events & Facilities Management Association (CEFMA) from 2021–2025.
Chrabaszcz came to UConn from Yale University where she served as the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations. There, she sat on the department’s senior staff and supervised and coordinated internal operations for 35 varsity sports. She oversaw Yale’s event management team, Yale’s Teamworks account, and was the sport administrator for men’s soccer, men’s basketball, field hockey, and softball.
Chrabaszcz was a critical member of the Yale COVID Task Force where she was responsible for creating and implementing student-athlete daily health screenings and clearance for practices. In conjunction with the head athletic trainer, she developed return-to-work testing requirements, quarantine and isolation protocols for both student-athletes and staff. She was also responsible for creating and implementing return-to-work protocols, office de-densification plans, and return-to-competition plans.
Additionally, Chrabaszcz coordinated capital projects with coaching staffs and the development office on several program enhancements, including renovations to the men’s and women’s basketball media rooms, locker rooms, and recruiting hallway, the construction of the Carol Roberts Field House for field hockey and softball, and a new turf field and stadium improvements for softball and baseball.
In addition to her duties at Yale, Chrabaszcz served on numerous NCAA and Ivy League committees, including working as the Site Representative on behalf of the NCAA for the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship first round at the University of Connecticut. She also served as chair of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Committee (2018–20) and was the Ivy League administrative liaison for softball and swimming.
Prior to her time at Yale, she worked at Auburn University where she served as an Athletic Events Coordinator, managing more than 100 athletic events annually. She was the onsite event manager for football, equestrian, gymnastics, and women’s basketball, overseeing the complete operation of the 87,000-seat Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Chrabaszcz is a 2008 graduate of Delaware State University where she was a member and captain of the softball team. She earned first-team ESPN Academic All-America recognition as a senior and was the College of Business Valedictorian. In 2018, she was inducted into the Delaware State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Chrabaszcz earned a master’s degree in higher education/sports administration from Auburn in 2011 and received a Ph.D. in higher education, APR/GSR/FGR dissertation from Auburn in 2013.
Jessica lives in Glastonbury, Conn., with her wife, Katie, daughter Ellie, son Bennett, and Springer Spaniel, Oliver.
