LaTroy Lewis comes to the Huskies from Toledo, where he coached the defensive line with Head Coach Jason Candle in 2025.
Before Toledo, Lewis was a graduate assistant at Michigan, working with the linebackers before serving in the role of assistant defensive line coach. Lewis was part of teams that won two Big Ten Championships and appeared twice in the College Football Playoffs, winning the national championship in 2023.
Lewis spent one season at Wake Forest in 2021 as a special teams assistant. Prior to his time at Wake, Lewis was a defensive graduate assistant at South Alabama in 2021, working with special teams and nickelbacks.
Lewis began his coaching career in 2020 at the University of Akron as a graduate assistant.
Prior to his coaching career, Lewis played defensive line at Tennessee, playing in and winning three consecutive bowl games. In his senior season in 2016, he recorded career highs in tackles (36), tackles for loss (4.0) and sacks (2.5). Lewis graduated from Tennessee in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.
