TJ Harkins returns for his second season on Head Coach Jim Mora’s staff. Harkins will continue to work with the UConn defensive backs in 2025.
Harkins joined the Huskies last fall working with the defensive staff and defensive backs. He worked on opponent breakdowns and scouting as well as practice and meeting preparations. He also worked with the offensive scout teams and all scout special teams.
Prior to coming to Storrs, Harkins spent two seasons on the staff at Grand Valley State University as a defensive graduate assistant coach working with the team’s linebackers. He handled scouting reports as well as opponent breakdowns as well as practice planning and coaching the scout team units. Harkins spent one season at Saginaw Valley State University prior to joining Grand Valley State where he worked as a defensive quality control coach and video coordinator.
Harkins got his first coaching experience as a student at Bowling Green University from 2017 through 2020. He worked as a special teams and recruiting student assistant.
He earned his degree in education and sport management at Bowling Green and then went on to get a master’s in communication while at Grand Valley State.
