Men's Ice Hockey Falls To Merrimack, 4-2

NORTH ANDOVER, MASSACHUSETTS (Oct. 21) - Host Merrimack College jumped to an early lead with a pair of power play goals and held on to post a 4-2 victory Oct. 21 over the University of Connecticut men's ice hockey team.
Nick Parillo and Steve Moon each tallied power play scores in the second period for a 2-0 Merrimack lead.
Matt Herhal of Connecticut, who scored both goals in the contest for the Huskies, tallied a short-handed goal late in the second period to bring UConn within one score.
Merrimack made it 3-1 in the first minute of the third period on a goal by Vincent Clevenger but Herhals second score four minutes later got the Huskies back within one goal at 3-2.
The Warriors added an empty net insurance goal from Lucas Smith with 12 seconds left in the contest.
The victory for Merrimack improved its overall record to 2-1-1 while UConn dropped to 0-3-0 on the young season.
Connecticut will begin its regular season home schedule on Friday, October 27, when the Huskies host Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena.
