Men's Hockey Falls To American International, 3-1

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's ice hockey team was defeated by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival American International College, 3-1, on Friday evening in Storrs, CT. The Huskies record drops to 4-5-2 overall, 4-2-1 in MAAC play, while AIC improves to 4-7-1 overall, 4-4-1 in conference action.
AIC's Bryan Bassler opened the scoring at the 4:05 mark of the first period on a breakaway with assists from Patrick Tabb and Yellow Jacket goalie Chance Thede. Guillaume Caron tallied a power play goal for AIC's second goal of the night midway through the second period.
In the third period, UConn's Mike Boylan (Doylestown, PA) found the puck in front of the net and placed it past Thede to put the Huskies on the board at the 4:45 mark during a power play opportunity. Ciro Longobardi (Wallingford, CT) and Ron D'Angelo (Massapequa, NY) assisted on the tally. Andy Luhovy gave the Yellow Jackets the insurance goal for the win with under a minute remaining in the stanza.
UConn's Artie Imbriano (Stoneham, MA) made 16 saves in net, while Thede stopped 28 UConn shots on goal. Connecticut outshot AIC, 29-16, in their losing effort.
The Huskies will take to the ice tomorrow evening against AIC in Springfield, MA at 7:00 p.m. Connecticut's game versus Mercyhurst postponed from Wednesday, Nov. 22 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena. In order to accommodate Mercyhurst's travel schedule, UConn's game against Sacred Heart previously scheduled for that night (Feb. 10) has been moved to Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
