Huskies Skate Past Army, 7-5

Mike Boylan (Doylestown, PA) nailed a shot from the point at the 3:12 mark of the first period. Ciro Longobardi (Wallingford, CT) and Goclowski assisted on the goal. Matt Herhal (Pottstown, PA) made a pass across the Army goal crease to Goclowski, who then flipped the puck over goalie Scott Hamilton during the power play at the 5:25 mark for UConns second tally. Longobardi also received an assist on the goal. Armys Mike Fairman brought the Black Knights within one at the 13:29 mark on a power play goal.
Tim Fisher opened the Army scoring with a quick goal in the second period to tie the game when UConn goaltender Artie Imbriano (Stoneham, MA) got caught down in the crease. Connecticut retaliated 26 seconds later when Corey Salvatellli (Leominster, MA) came in from the right point and lifted the puck into the net, scoring his first collegiate goal.
Anders Johnson (North Kingston, RI) and Charles Ridolf (West Warwick, RI) assisted on the tally. Johnson then netted an unassisted goal at the 9:52 mark giving the Huskies the two- goal lead. Fisher recorded his second goal of the night with eight minutes left in the stanza to end the periods scoring.
Mike Anderson (Springfield, MA) took a shot from the point during the power play, to have Herhal push in the rebound in at the 1:11 mark of the third period. Goclowski was also credited with an assist. Three minutes later, Hamilton made a save for the Black Knights when Ridolf poked the puck out for a Trent Landry (Somerset, WI) tip-in. Ridolf and Anderson assisted on the goal. Scott Brown (Blaine, MN) ended UConns scoring at the 9:33 mark with assists from Herhal and Matt Owens (Framingham, MA). Then in the last four minutes of play, Armys Fairman netted two goals giving him the hat trick and bringing the Black Knights with in two goals.
Imbriano recorded 18 saves, while Armys Hamilton and Ford Lannan combined for 28 saves in net. UConn outshot Army, 35-23.
UConn will play in its last non-conference game of the season on January 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
