Carey Named Rookie of the Week in MAAC Hockey

STORRS, Conn. -- University of Connecticut men's ice hockey
team freshman goalie Jason Carey (Oakdale, MN) was
selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)
Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon for the week of
January 22-28.
Carey and the Huskies had a 1-0-1 week in conference play. Carey earned a tie in net on Tuesday evening as UConn tied Bentley College, 3-3. During his 65:00 in goal, Carey recorded 33 saves. On Saturday, Connecticut defeated Quinnipiac, 4-2, its first win in the teams last four meetings. Carey was solid in net stopping 27 Quinnipiac shots. Carey holds an overall 4-3-1 record seeing 544:44 in goal allowing 27 goals and recording 258 saves. His goals against average stands at 2.97.
UConn will host MAAC powerhouse Mercyhurst College on Friday, February 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena in Storrs.
