STORRS, CT The University of Connecticut womens ice hockey team shutout Quinnipiac University, 2-0, in its final game of the 2000 inaugural season at the UConn Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Sharon Glasson (Wethersfield, CT) pushed the puck in under Quinnipiac goalie Kerri Stanford for the game-winning goal at the 2:00 mark of the first period. Marcy Lambert (Cheshire, CT) assisted on the tally.
Michelle Zuba (New Milford, CT) gave the Huskies an insurance goal five minutes into the second stanza with an assist from Hollie Stephens (East Haven, CT).
Diana Cohen (South Salem, NY) earned the shutout in net for UConn making 17 saves. Kerri Stanford and Kim Olsen combined for 20 saves in net. Connecticut outshot Quinnipiac, 22-17.
