Matthew Shewchuk scored Canisius' only goal of the game at the 12:15 mark of the first period. The Huskies went on to score the next four goals in the victory. Mike Boylan (Doylestown, PA) tied the score with just less than two minutes remaining in the first stanza with an assist from Matt Herhal (Pottstown, PA).
The two teams played scoreless in the second period, with the Huskies outshooting the Ice Griffs, 9-0.
Longobardi scored the game-winner at 2:39 mark of the third period. Eric Goclowski (Hamden, CT) and D.J. Miller (Mount Lebanon, PA) assisted on the goal. Ron D'Angelo (Massapequa, NY) scored a power play tally at 6:51 followed by an unassisted Anders Johnson tally at 15:04 of the third. Longobardi and Goclowski assisted on D'Angelo's goal.
Artie Imbriano (Stoneham, MA) received the win in net stopping 19 shots on goal, while Stephen Fabiilli recorded 31 saves in net.
UConn will travel to Fairfield on Friday, February 9 for a game slated to begin at 8:00 p.m.
