UConn and Fairfield Play to A 2-2 Tie

BRIDGEPORT, CT (November 2) – The University of Connecticut men’s hockey team gave up a 1-0 lead going in the third period to play to a 2-2 tie against Fairfield University at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport on Saturday night.
UConn (1-3-1, 0-2-1) took the early lead in the first period on a goal by Kurt Kamienski (Pittsfield, MA) and assist from Jonathan Jepson (Toledo, OH) at the 8:24 mark. The latter part of the first and the second periods went scoreless with the Huskies maintaining the 1-0 lead.
The third period belonged mainly to Fairfield as they went on to tie the score and take the lead for the first time of the night. Dan Cotter tied the game 4:11 into the third stanza, followed by a Steve Calderra tally at the 13:27 mark to pull ahead of the Huskies. With 2:44 remaining in regulation, Jepson netted a shot to put the UConn back in the game. Matt Owens (Framingham, MA) and Robert Ryan (Malden, MA) assisted on the goal.
Artie Imbriano (Stoneham, MA) earned his first start in net since October 11, stopping 23 shots on goal. Craig Schnappinger recorded 21 saves. Fairfield out shot Connecticut, 25-23.
Connecticut will play host to Canisius College on Friday, November 8 at 7:30 pm at the UConn Ice Arena.
