UConn Earns First BIG EAST Win Over Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MA (April 10) – Junior Heather Bliss (Tully, NY) and freshman Tracy Mullaney (Cockeysville, MD) led the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team past Boston College, 11-7, earning its first BIG EAST Conference win of the season on Wednesday night in Chestnut Hill, MA. The win improved the Huskies to 4-5 overall, 1-2 in the BIG EAST, while the Eagles dropped to 7-5 overall, 2-3 in conference play.
UConn opened the scoring on three goals in the first five-minutes of play. Pam Lowie (Cortland, NY) notched the first two tallies of the game, and Mullaney added the third to give the Huskies the 3-0 lead. Over the course of the half, Boston College countered and came within one goal at the 11-minute mark, making the score, 5-4. Connecticut scored two more goals including a last second shot from Lowie, on an assist from Mullaney, to give the Huskies the 7-5 advantage at the half.
Bliss scored four goals in the Huskies winning effort, and Mullaney added three goals and an assist. Kelly Feeley (Collingswood, NJ) recorded a goal and an assist for UConn. Lauren Miller led the Eagles with three goals.
April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) played the complete game stopping 17 shots allowing seven goals. BC’s Sara Carpenter made six saves, allowing 11 goals.
Connecticut will host BIG EAST opponent Rutgers University on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 pm at Morrone Stadium.
