Fort Collins, CO (Aug. 30) - The University of Connecticut women’s volleyball team opened the 2002 season with a 3-0 victory over Western Michigan, at the Colorado State University Park Holiday Inn Classic.
The Huskies were led by senior Melissa Wooley (Ridgecrest, CA) with a team high 12 kills and eight digs. Seniors Stephanie Ziemann (Linden, Ca) and Sarah Walton (North Fork, CA) also recorded eight digs for UConn. Junior setter Julie Erbez (Stockton, CA) led the team in assists with 44.
UConn returns to action tomorrow afternoon at the University Park Holiday Inn Classic against No. 22 Kansas State at 12 pm, and No. 18 Colorado State at 9 pm.
