Huskies Fall to Notre Dame, 3-1

SOUTH BEND, IN (Sept. 27) - The University of Connecticut (4,8,0-1) women’s volleyball team lost its BIG EAST conference opener Fri., Sept. 27, to preseason favorite Notre Dame (10-3, 1-0), 3-1 (28-30, 33-31, 30-18, 31-29).
The Huskies came out strong to win game one and took an early lead in game two, before Notre Dame fought back to take game two. The Irish then came out after the break and took game three easily. Game four saw the Huskies fight back this time from an early deficit and out hit Notre Dame percentage wise, but the Irish were to much and hung on to win.
UConn was led by sophomore Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, CA) who had her fourth double-double of the season. Hadenfeldt recorded a career high 23 kills on an outstanding .388 hitting percentage, along with 15 digs. Junior Julie Erbez (Stockton, CA) also had her fourth straight double-double with 54 assists and 14 digs.
Notre Dame was led by Emily Loomis with a double-double of 20 kills and 13 digs.
Connecticut returns to action on Sun., Sept. 29, at 2:00 pm, as they continue BIG EAST play at Syracuse.
