Lauren Henderson Earns BIG EAST Accolade

STORRS, CT (October 27) -- Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Lauren Henderson (Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) has been honored as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the University of Connecticut field hockey team to victories over Boston University and league rival Syracuse. Henderson earns the accolade for the first time this season.
Henderson scored UConn’s first goal and assisted on the game-winner in UConn’s 3-1 defeat of Boston University on Wednesday, and scored UConn’s only two goals in the Huskies’ 2-1 win at Syracuse. The junior forward now has registered seventeen goals and two assists in 2003, for a team-high 36 points. This week, Henderson moved into second place on UConn’s all-time goals scored list with 55, and also propelled herself into a tie for third place on UConn’s all-time points list with a remarkable 124.
The Huskies are back in action Wednesday, October 29th when they take on instate foe Fairfield in Storrs. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
