STORRS, CT (Nov. 2) -- Gretchen Anderson scored just :10 seconds into the game and Princeton never looked back, as the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team fell 6-1 to the Tigers at the UConn Ice Arena in Storrs. With the loss, UConn slips to 1-4-3 on the season, while Princeton improves to 2-0-0.
Anderson scored off her own rebound after the face-off giving the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish. Junior Shannon Connolly (Baldwinsville, NY) found the back of the net at the 6:00 mark of the third period thanks to assists by Julie Marashio (Wayland, MA) and Stefanie Snow (Nashua, NH) to bring the Huskies within two scores at 3-1, but the Tigers added three more goals to insure the victory.
Princeton executed exceptionally on the power play, producing a goal three-of-six times with the extra skater, while UConn went 0-for-five. UConn was out-shot 32-to-18 on the afternoon.
Connolly scored after a scuffle in front of the net. Snow came away with the puck and dished to Connolly who stuffed it in.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, November 7 when they play host to Quinnipiac at the UConn Ice Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
