The University of Connecticut men’s hockey head coach Bruce Marshall and women’s hockey head coach Heather Linstad have both announced their program’s schedule for the upcoming 2003-04 season.
Entering its fourth year as a Division I program, the Connecticut women’s hockey program continues to grow and establish itself as a regional and national contender. A second-year member of the newly formed Women’s Hockey East League, the Huskies will face Boston College, New Hampshire, Maine, Northeastern and Providence three times each in 2003-04 in a range of home/away series. Non-conference opponents from the ECAC Women’s League include Princeton, Dartmouth, Yale and St. Lawrence, along with independent Quinnipiac. Mercyhurst and Mankato will travel to Storrs, while Huskies make their way to North Dakota and St. Lawrence during the season.
The Husky men will face off against each Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Opponent (MAAC) opponent three times in various home/away situations. With the recent departure of Fairfield and Iona from the league, the league now includes Connecticut, Quinnipiac, Mercyhurst, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Bentley, Army, Canisius and American International. Connecticut’s non-conference schedule continues to be even competitive and challenging than past seasons. The Huskies will travel to Hockey East foe UMass Amherst, ECAC opponents Vermont, Brown, Yale and Rensselaer and to Alabama Huntsville of the College Hockey America Conference. Along with the MAAC opponents, Bemidji State will travel to Connecticut for a weekend series, and Air Force will join UConn, Bentley and Sacred Heart in the annual UConn Hockey Classic.
