Huskies Open Up BIG EAST Play Against Villanova

A Look at the Wildcats
The Huskies have dominated the Wildcats through the years, accumulating a 15-3 record against their BIG EAST foe dating back to 1988. Last season, the two squads had a pair of memorable affairs. The Huskies defeated Villanova 2-1 in Philadelphia after the ‘Cats jumped ouSt to a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game. The two teams also met in last year’s BIG EAST Championship Game, a contest in which Villanova again jumped out to a quick 1-0 advantage before the Huskies rattled off three straight goals en route to clinching the tournament crown. Although the Wildcats lost nine letter winners for the 2003 season, they do return 2002 First Team All-BIG EAST selection Christina Lugones, and Second Team honorees, Leah Lisausky and Vanessa Pizzulli.
This season, Villanova has posted a record of 4-3, with two opponents being mutual with the Huskies. The ‘Cats defeated Stanford, 3-1 in California and also defeated Lafayette 4-3. UConn dominated the Cardinal, beating them 4-0, and also defeated Lafayette 3-0 in Storrs en route to winning the UConn Field Hockey Classic.
