Four Men's Hockey Players Earn All-Academic Honors

STORRS, Conn. -- Sophomores J.R. Corkery (Salt Lake City, Utah), Cole Koidahl (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Matt Scherer (Seattle, Wash.) and senior Adam Rhein (Cottage Grove, Minn.) of the University of Connecticut men’s hockey team were named to the first-ever Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team.
To qualify for the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in each of the two academic periods during which his team was actively competing.
Corkery, a biology major with a 3.766 GPA, was +4 over 22 games his freshman season and totaled eight points on a goal and seven assists. Koidahl posted a 3.194 GPA and recorded seven goals and nine assists last season. Scherer had a 3.475 GPA and finished second on the team in scoring in 2003-04 with 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points. Rhein is majoring in finance and boasts a 3.439 GPA; last season he appeared as a defenseman in 34 of 35 games and tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
