WORCESTER, Mass. (November 5, 2005) - The University of Connecticut men's hockey team captured its second Atlantic Hockey win with its 3-2 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday evening. Junior Cole Koidahl (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the game-winner for the Huskies to help improve their record to 2-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the AHA.
Connecticut jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first period. Senior Ryan Palmer (Groton, Mass.) scored the first Husky goal at the 3:42 mark of the stanza with assists from senior captain Chris Uber (Ithaca, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hawkins (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
Less than three minutes later, the Huskies set off the lights and buzzers again with a goal by freshman Chris Myhro (Eden Prairie, Minn.). Koidahl and Uber both assisted on Myhro's fourth goal of the season to put the Huskies ahead 2-0.
Holy Cross got on the board in the second period with a goal by Brian Kolb. Chris Trovato and Tanner Fogarty assisted on the goal. UConn responded just over seven minutes later with Koidahl's game-winner. Junior B.J. Crum (Hampden, Mass.) and freshman Nick Schneider (Maplewood, Minn.) assisted on the play.
Holy Cross scored one more goal before the final buzzer, but it was not enough for them to overcome the Huskies' defense. Freshman goalie, Jon Anderson (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) made 40 saves in the game to record his second victory of the season.
The Huskies will be in action again on Nov. 18 and 19 at Canisius. Both games are slated for 7:00 p.m. at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
