WAKEFIELD, Mass. (December 12, 2005) - Sophomore goaltender, Brad Smith (Detroit, Mich.) was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This honor comes after a stellar weekend of play for Smith who led the Huskies to a series sweep of Sacred Heart and head coach Bruce Marshall's 250th career win. Smith made a total of 72 saves this weekend, 43 of which came in the Huskies' 2-1 victory on Thursday evening.
The AHA also recognized freshman Chris Myhro (Eden Prairie, Minn.) for his contributions to this weekend's successes. Myhro led the charge with three points. In the Huskies’ 2-1 victory on Thursday, Myhro scored the game-winner at the 11:59 mark of the third period. On Friday night, Myhro recorded two assists on the way to UConn’s 3-2 victory after a two goal deficit. His assists came on the team’s first goal of the evening and on the game-winner. This is Myhro's third time this season to be named to the honor roll.
