Women's Ice Hockey to Face Rensselaer on Wednesday Night

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 30, 2007) - The No. 8 University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team will face off with non-conference opponent Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. in Troy, N.Y. Live video coverage for this game is now available.
UConn, currently 7-1-0 overall will face a 5-1-1 Rensselaer program, that has won five of its last six games, the sixth being a 1-1 tie in overtime to Yale.
The Huskies, led this season by the nation's scoring leader in sophomore Dominique Thibault (L'Orignal, Ont.), will look not only look for Thibault to continue her hot streak, but will look for goaltender Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont.) to also continue to make the impressive stops in goal. Wilson has a 5-1-0 record this season while picking up a team-high 152 saves. Thibault leads Huskies with 16 points (8g, 8a) in eight games.
Thibault was also selected as the Hockey East's TPS Player of the Week for the third straight week while both Wilson and freshman Jody Sydor (St. Albert, Alta.) earned spots in the weekly honor roll.
UConn stayed still in two of this week's women's ice hockey polls, as the Huskies kept their spot, ranking eighth in both the USCHO.com Women's Poll and the USA TODAY/USA Women's Poll.
The Huskies, currently with a 2-0-0 Hockey East record will face Rensselaer in non-conference play before taking on Brown on Sunday, Nov. 4 in another non-league match-up. The Sunday game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
