Women's Tennis Gets Big 4-3 Win Over Villanova

STORRS, Conn. (March 25, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team used key wins in singles play as well as two big wins in doubles to pull out an exciting 4-3 victory over Villanova on Saturday afternoon in Storrs, Conn.
The Huskies earned the doubles point with two key victories at No. 2 and 3. Junior Jess Porter (Duluth, Ga.) and sophomore Breann Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) teamed up for an 8-6 win over Jaclyn Williamson and Leighann Reilly at No. 2. Senior Liz Dibbs (Allentown, Pa.) and senior Christine Burek (Wheaton, Ill.) dominated an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Carla Erskine and Courtney Reed.
In singles, Porter picked up her second win of the day at No. 3 with a 7-6, 7-6 victory over Reilly. Freshman Alli Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Reed at No. 5 while senior Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, Fla.) defeated Colleen Walter 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6.
