Erickson Makes Career High 45 Saves in Loss to Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. (February 2, 2008) - Beau Erickson (Hinton, Iowa) made a career high 45 saves as the University of Connecticut men's hockey team fell 6-0 to Army Saturday night in West Point. The Huskies fall to 8-15-4 overall and 7-10-3 in the Atlantic Hockey Association. The Black Knights improve to 11-12-3 and 11-7-2.
Army was able to jump on UConn early when Drew Pierson scored only 4:52 into the game. Erickson was sharp throughout the period as he made 19 saves. The Black Knights scored a shorthanded goal at the 17:45 mark that put Army in control of the game.
Erickson, who won Inside College Hockey's National Player of the Week for his performance last weekend, made another 19 saves in the second period on 22 shots, and finished his night with seven saves on eight shots in the third period. It broke his previous career high of 44 saves that was set on January 27, 2007, also against Army.
UConn returns to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against Sacred Heart. On Friday, February 8, they host the Pioneers at 7:05 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum. They will travel to the Milford Ice Pavilion on Saturday, February 9. Game time there is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
