Storrs, Conn. - After falling to RIT on Friday night, 6-2, the Huskies suffered a 5-3 loss to the Tigers in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday night. Seniors Stevie Bergin (Groton, Mass.), Andrew Olson (Alexandria, Minn.) and Jason Krispel (Cypress, Calif.) each netted goals, but a third-period comeback fell short as UConn drops to 2-3-3 (2-2-1 AHA) on the season. RIT improves to 4-5-1 (3-1-0 AHA).
Connecticut was down 4-1 heading into the third period before tallying two-straight to make it a one goal game at 4-3. Bergin put home his first goal of the season at 2:43 on the power play with an assist to James Gallagher (Marquette, Mich.) to make it 4-2.
Olson then buried his first goal of the season, also on the power play, at 15:00 to make it 4-3 with assists from freshmen Jordan Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Grant Scott (Swickley, Pa.). The Huskies pulled goaltender Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) with 48 seconds remaining but were unable to put home the game-tying goal.
Bartus made 34 saves in goal for Connecticut while RIT goaltender Shane Madolora stopped 29 UConn shots for the victory.
UConn will face Bentley in the final of a three-game road trip on Friday, November 19 at 7:05 p.m.
