Huskies Drop 6-2 Decision To Alabama-Huntsville

Storrs, Conn. - The Connecticut men's hockey team fell in the final game of the RPI Holiday Tournament to Alabama-Huntsville, 6-2, tonight in Troy, N.Y. The Huskies saw goals from Corey Jendras (Abingdon, Md.) and Daniel Naurato (Northville, Mich.). Redshirt-freshman Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Ariz.) recorded 33 stops in his first collegiate start. UConn now stands at 3-6-3 while Alabama-Huntsville improves to 2-10-1.
The Chargers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal from Matt Baxter at 14:24 of the first period. The Huskies were able to quickly respond at 16:38 when Jendras, playing in his first game of the year, put home his first tally of the season. Jendras was assisted by Rui Encarnacao (White Plains, N.Y.) and Naurato. Encarnacao and Naurato earned their second and fourth assists on the season, respectively.
It was all Alabama-Huntsville after that. The Chargers tallied five-straight goals to take a 6-1 lead. UAH put home two in the second to make it 3-1 before adding on three goals in the third period. Connecticut eventually made it 6-2 with Naurato's second goal of the season at 18:47 of the final period. He was assisted by Chris Waterstradt (Tulsa, Okla.).
For the game, Grogan made 33 saves for UConn while Alabama-Huntsville's Clarke Saunders denied 29 shots to earn the victory.
Connecticut will return with Atlantic Hockey action as the Huskies face Niagara in a two-game set in Niagara University, N.Y. on Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4. Both games will begin at 7:05 p.m.
