No. 4 Field Hockey Set for BIG EAST Tournament

STORRS, Conn. - The fourth-ranked University of Connecticut field hockey team is ready to take on No. 12 Louisville in the semifinal round of the 2010 BIG EAST Tournament, which is set for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 6 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn.
The Cardinals, which earned the No. 2 seed in this weekend's tournament, enter the game with a 13-6 overall record and a 5-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Connecticut, which is the No. 3 seed is 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the loop. U of L nipped UConn by a 3-2 count in overtime earlier this year.
UConn is looking for its 12th BIG EAST Tournament championship this weekend. The Huskies have competed in the event 20 times and have made it to at least the championship game on 17 of those 20 occasions. Connecticut is 17-3 all-time in BIG EAST Tournament semifinal action.
The Huskies have won nine of the 11 meetings all-time with Louisville and UConn is 4-1 against the Cards in BIG EAST Tournament play.
UConn is the defending BIG EAST Champion and the team has won nine of the previous 12 BIG EAST Tournaments.
The contest will be preceded by the Syracuse vs. Rutgers showdown at 11 a.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups will play for all the marbles at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
