The Week Ahead
After a brief stint away from the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum, the Huskies will return to host Maine in their lone contest of the week. UConn will face the Black Bears on Saturday (Nov. 6) starting at 1:00 p.m. The game will mark the fourth Hockey East match-up for the Huskies this season and the first time that they have faced Maine this year.
Unbeaten Streak On The Line
UConn has had much success in recent years against the Black Bears, holding a 12 game unbeaten streak over the past four seasons. The Huskies have outscored Maine 52-22 during their last 12 games, including at least a two goal advantage in eight of those contests.
Huskies Against Maine
Eight current Huskies have posted points against the Black Bears over their UConn careers, led by Jennifer Chaisson who has tallied seven goals and four assists over the past three seasons. Kelly Horan (3G), Monique Weber (2G, 5A), Brittany Murphy (2G, 3A), Jody Sydor (4A), Rebecca Hewett (4A), Casey Knajdek (1G) and Maude Blain (1G) have also recorded points against Maine, while Alexandra Garcia has posted a combined 57 saves against the Black Bears.
Raithby Records Second Goal
Freshman Stephanie Raithby recorded her second career goal in the 2-2 overtime tie against Boston College last weekend, becoming the third freshman to post at least two points during the first month of play.
Garcia In Goal
With back-to-back 36 save games against Boston College last weekend, Alexandra Garcia now has 1,139 career saves, ranking fourth all-time in the UConn record book. After her 72 saves against the Eagles, Garcia has now posted six 30+ save games this season and nine during her time at UConn.
Team Leader
Taylor Gross recorded her third assist of the season against the Eagles last Saturday, and in the process took over the team lead in assists and is now tied for the team lead with five points on the season. Gross went on a scoring streak earlier in the season, posting a point in four consecutive games (Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Colgate & Syracuse).
Welch Posts First Point
Newcomer Jenna Welch recorded her first point as a Husky last weekend against BC, recording an assist on UConn's second goal of the game. Welch is the sixth freshman to record a point this season as the class leads the Huskies with six goals, six assists and 12 points.
