Garrett Bartus Named AHA Goaltender of the Week

Storrs, Conn. - It was announced today that UConn sophomore goaltender Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week. Bartus recorded 59 saves and a 1.44 goals against average to lead UConn to a 3-2 victory and 1-1 tie against Canisius this weekend. This is Bartus' second AHA Goaltender of the Week honor this season and the third of his career.
Bartus denied 24 shots to earn a 3-2 victory in UConn's home opener on Friday, November 5. The following night, Bartus denied 35 shots to lead UConn to a 1-1 tie. On the season Bartus has started every game and owns a 2.91 goals against average to go along with a .915 save percentage.
UConn stands at 2-1-3 overall and 1-0-1 in Atlantic Hockey play. The 2-1-3 mark is the best start for the Huskies since rattling off a 4-1-1 mark in 1998-99.
Freshman Cole Schneider (Williamsville, N.Y.) and senior Brian Reagan (Ballwin, Mo.) were both named to the AHA Honor Roll. This marks the second Honor Roll selection for both players this season.
Schnei¬der scored the game-tying goal to force overtime in UConn's 1-1 tie at home against Canisius on Saturday, November 6. Schneider leads the team with three goals and six points and stands at 10th in the nation in points per game by a freshman.
Reagan put home the game-winning goal while on the power-play at 1:40 of the third period in the 3-2 victory over Canisius on Friday, November 5. In a 1-0-1 weekend for the Huskies, Reagan finished with a plus-two rating.
UConn will be in action next when it faces RIT in a pair of conference games in Rochester, N.Y. The puck is set to drop in Ritter Arena at 7:05 p.m.
