IWLA All-Regional Performers Announced
STORRS, Conn. - Ashley Mitchelides (Hudson, Ohio), a 2010 graduate of the University of Connecticut lacrosse team was selected to the IWLCA All-Region team for 2010. Mitchelides is among the 128 student-athletes in Division I honored and is now eligible for an IWLCA All-American team selection. She was selected to the North Region Second Team for the first time in her career.
Mitchelides concluded her career with a banner year as a redshirt senior attack in 2010. She led the team with 47 points and was second on the team with 33 goals scored. As one of the elite scoring threats for the Huskies, she amassed 12 multiple-goal games, including four hat tricks. Mitchelides scored a career-best four goals against then No. 15 Georgetown on April 5 and was the team leader in scoring in BIG EAST games. She recorded 18 of her points in conference contests.
She recorded 40 goals and 20 assists 54 career games at UConn. She was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team in the spring of 2006 and graduated earlier in May with a degree in Psychology.
Mitchelides is one of two BIG EAST student-athletes selected to the second team and is one of 18 from the conference to be selected to one of the region teams.
