DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team experienced its first weekend sweep since late October after a 5-1 loss at the University of New Hampshire, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 3-15-6 overall and 2-7-2 in Hockey East, while the Wildcats improved to 8-13-3 and 2-7-2.

Caroline Broderick got the scoring started for UNH with a goal at the 8:39 mark of the first period. UConn came back to tie the game at one less than five minutes later when redshirt-sophomore defenseman Maggie Walsh (Bloomfield, Conn.), assisted by sophomore Jocelyn Slattery (Hugo, Minn.), netted her second goal of the season.

Before the end of the first, Kristine Horn put the Wildcats back on top with a score at the 15:53 mark.

In the second period, New Hampshire extended its lead to 4-1 with goals by Jenna Lascelle and Kayla Mork.

Senior goaltender Alexandra Garcia (Point-Claire, Que.) provided 30 saves, while allowing five goals for Connecticut. Between the pipes for UNH, Lindsey Minton made 24 saves.

Once again, the Huskies held the Wildcat power play to no goals in five attempts. The Connecticut penalty kill, which entered the weekend ranked fifth in the country, improved to 89.7 percent and has shutdown 36 of the last 37 power plays faced.

UConn returns to action with a 7:00 pm game at Maine on Friday, January 20, followed by a home match-up with Boston College at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 22.
